Arsenal must upgrade their striking options to achieve their full potential

Arsenal have been plagued by a lack of consistency in the final third, often squandering chances that they meticulously create, and this has led to a barren run in which they have dropped points and exited both the FA Cup and Champions League. If Arsene Wenger’s men cannot improve their finishing in their remaining nine Premier League matches, any hope of winning the Premier League will disappear as well.

Olivier Giroud has scored at a decent clip this season, netting 20 goals in 44 appearances at a rate of one goal every 143 minutes. For a €12 million signing, that is exceptional, but more options are needed at the top for the Gunners. Giroud himself has stated before that competition spurs him on to achieve more, as seen by his resurgence when Walcott briefly led the line for Arsenal.

Giroud and his teammate Danny Welbeck can be excellent super-sub or rotation options, and with the addition of an elite third striker to the fold, Arsenal could boast the strongest strike force in the Premier League. It will be up to Arsene Wenger this summer to make this a reality and add quality and incisiveness to Arsenal’s attack, whether or not Arsenal do end the season as Premier League champions.
