2. Simon Mignolet

It’s difficult to illustrate the struggles of a goal keeper by statistical means, but it’s easy to see Simon Mignolet’s struggles when you watch Liverpool on a regular basis. Klopp must replace this weak link in his defense.

The Belgian keeper has gotten quite a bit of stick from Liverpool fans this season, especially in light of his contract extension with the club. While he might not be the complete disaster in-goal that some fans would you have believe, he’s been below-average for most of the season.

Liverpool could opt to hope for a bounce-back year from Mignolet. After all, the defense in front of him hasn’t been very good this season either which does explain some of his struggles. That’s giving Mignolet too much credit for me though.

Instead, Klopp should look to go out and find a truly world-class keeper to anchor his defense. Upgrading the side’s play in between the pipes might mean more points for Liverpool than any other change.
