Thanks to two goals from Luis Suarez, FC Barcelona were able to walk away with a 2-1 win against Atletico Madrid

It was nervy times for FC Barcelona but they were able to walk away with a 2-1 win against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

Fernando Torres opened the scoring in the 25th minute for the visitors as he found himself in front of goal and put the ball right through Marc-André ter Stegen’s legs for the 1-0 lead. It was a precious away goal for Atletico Madrid. But things quickly went south when Torres picked up his second yellow in the 35th minute and was promptly sent off.  After a great start Atletico had to defend with their lives.

The second half saw a flurry of chances for FC Barcelona. The Catalans were throwing everything they could at Atletico Madrid and you could sense a goal coming. Everyone on the pitch knew it, they just didn’t know how. Barcelona scored eventually. Jordi Alba found himself on the end of a Dani Alves cross in the box and fired it towards goal. But the left back mishit it badly but the ball fell right to Luis Suarez and it bounced off his leg and into the back of the net. It was lucky but Barcelona needed it. Suarez had himself another goal as he scored a great header inside the box. He received great service from Dani Alves and fired it past Jon Oblak. It gave Barca the lead on the night and that’s how the game ended at 2-1.

Here are five things we learned from this game.
