1. Still a lot left to play for in this tie

Even with Barcelona up 2-1, this tie is still anyone’s ball game. Atletico should feel happy that they only gave up two goals and with a man down as well. They also scored a key away goal that could come in handy if they somehow shut out the Catalans in the Vicente Calderón.

It looks like a tough outcome for them to do that but Simeone’s men are some of the best defenders in the world and they will certainly frustrate the Catalans. But Barcelona still hold the lead in this tie. Getting that second goal was important as it gives the Catalans some flexibility in the tie but they certainly have to score in the second leg. The way this tie is headed, it looks like for certain.

This second leg will ask a lot of questions about both teams. It will question the mental toughness of Barcelona as they haven’t been playing that well as of late but somehow managed a result in this game.

They play Real Sociedad on the weekend and will either rest players or Luis Enrique will keep his starters out to keep them in form. Atletico Madrid will play Espanyol over the weekend as they look to keep pace with the Catalans in the title race. They will also have to remain disciplined in the second leg. Historically they have lost their cool against the Catalans and certainly can’t do that here.
