Gonzalo Higuain

Most United fans hope to see Everton star Romelu Lukaku in this spot, but I just can’t see them winning that transfer war. Napoli hit man Gonzalo Higuain would be a terrific consolation prize in the Lukaku sweepstakes.

The Argentinian international is the classic, world-class number nine that United have lacked this season. He’s been in terrific form with Napoli and has lit up Serie A for an eye-popping 30 goals in 31 league appearances.

Napoli will hate to part with their talisman, but the financial might of other clubs around the world is going to be too much for the Serie A club to hold off. United will need to make a big bid for Higuain, but they should make the move to definitively solve their striking crisis.

Just imagine the possibilities of a front four featuring Higuain, James, Martial, and Rooney. It would be an exquisite mix of pace and skill that could terrorize Premier League defenses. Higuain might not be as young, or as familiar with the Premier League as Lukaku, but he’d still score a ton of goals for United next season.
