Step 3:Give the Youth a Chance

This is becoming a recurring theme of most articles written about Chelsea. It’s time with all the money that they spend on their academy and scouting network.

There are several strikers in Chelsea’s youth system that deserve a chance to be in the first team. One of which is Bertrand Traore.

The youngster has already made a name for himself this season, finding himself on the scoresheet more than most of us expected. He continues to show up in the right places and has a magnificent first touch. With more training and more chances, the youngster is sure to continue to show signs of greatness.

Furthermore, it’s about time Chelsea allow Patrick Bamford one last chance to prove himself. While last season’s loan allowed Bamford to be named the Championship Player of the Year, this season hasn’t gone according to script. Barely making a few appearances in the Premier League for Crystal Palace and Norwich this season, the Englishman has failed to score.

It’s time for the youngster to come home. At 22, there is still a chance for him to prove himself. But he needs to do so at Stamford Bridge. It’s clear to see that he no longer is benefitting from the loan system. Let him train at Cobham with the first team. Give him a chance to be a third striker in the team, perhaps fourth. Test him and see what he can do. If he doesn’t have it, then Chelsea know where they stand. But they won’t learn anything from continuing to loan him out.

Furthermore, players like Dominic Solanke and Izzy Brown will be able to fill a spot soon in the team. They probably need one more season on loan to get more senior experience under their belt. However, we should expect big things from the pair.
