NEW YORK, NY – MARCH 13: Andrea Pirlo /

1. Andrea Pirlo

“The Master” that’s what he is when he lines up for free kicks. This blurb wouldn’t even do him justice for his greatness in dead ball kicks. Italians have been enamored with Pirlo for his grace on the field, making the position of midfield seem so easy. The ability to find teammates in the tightest of spaces is something to watch.

Pirlo spent his entire career in Italy’s Serie A most notably with Inter and Juventus. His goal scoring totals weren’t high, but he made his opportunities count. You can say it was quality over quantity.

He’s now made his way to the MLS with NYCFC and he’s made his time count with the club. His presence alone has allowed fans of all ages come out to matches to watch him perform, because that’s what he does. Italians will hope he returns for one more tour with any club in Serie A for a tour that will be filled with joy and sadness, because he brought so much t that country including a World Cup title in 2006. Andrea Pirlo will go down as one of the best Italians to ever play when it’s all set and done.
