2. Atletico on the counterattack

With Bayern expected to control possession, Atletico will have to strike on the counterattack. They possess the talent that allows them to do that. Both Fernando Torres and Antoine Griezmann have good pace and will give the Bayern defense problems. Yannick Ferreira Carrasco is a menace down the wing and Koke has a solid shot off his right foot as well. They showed multiple times this season, especially against Barcelona, that they can test you on the counterattack. Especially if you give their strikers space in front of them. They showed that against Real Madrid with a goal by Torres quickly after the second half began.

Bayern’s defense has struggled with injuries all season and has forced Guardiola to make some weird choices in the back. He once had Vidal and David Alaba as a centerback pairing once. Obviously it didn’t cost them that much but it’s not good if your typical midfield and left back are playing CB for your team at any time in the game.

Bayern will have the majority of the chances but they have to be wary of the counterattack. One mistake and Torres or Griezmann is running at your centerback one on one. Thankfully Bayern have Manuel Neuer so they aren’t that scared on the counterattack, but even Neuer is human sometimes.
