5. Ronaldo’s Fitness

It was a huge surprise when Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t suit up against Manchester City considering the severity of the tie and the fact that it was back in England. Real Madrid obviously suffered without their best player as they lacked creativity in the final third. Gareth Bale and the other Madrid forwards are quality but Ronaldo just gives that special something to lift Madrid over the top.

Even after not playing on the weekend, Ronaldo remains doubtful with a thigh injury. Reports say that he has gotten so desperate to get back that he even went to FC Barcelona’s doctors to find out what’s wrong. Going to the doctor of your bitter rivals for help is when you know you will do anything to come back and play. Real Madrid need Ronaldo because even though Bale is doing wonders right now, he can’t do it all.

On the other side, Manchester City may be without David Silva who left the first leg in the first half due to injury. Like the Ronaldo injury hurt Real Madrid, Silva’s absence hurt Manchester City on the offensive end. Kelechi Iheanacho has shown great potential as Aguero’s future replacement but right now Manchester City need a true playmaker in Silva.
