Opposing fans only hate Tottenham more now because we’re good enough to threaten them
I’ve seen a great deal of consternation among the Tottenham fan base in regards to supporters of other clubs delighting in our “failure” to capture the Premier League crown. In sharp contrast, I am not at all upset about being the object of our opponents’ hatred, I revel in it.
The only reason that fans of Arsenal, Chelsea, etc are piping up about Spurs not winning the title is because they realize it’s a dream now within Tottenham’s grasp. Those fan bases had become comfortable with the idea of a soft, but entertaining Spurs side that could beat up on the Premier League basement, but would capitulate against the top four. Mauricio Pochettino has come to White Hart Lane and shattered that comfort reality for our opponents.
The stark truth is that with a few breaks, our beloved Spurs could have broken through and won the Premier League title this year. Alas, it wasn’t to be due to the mystical fairy tale of Leicester City’s season, but we put a fright into many of our competitors.

Arsenal fans, in particular, are quaking in their boots over the future of the two clubs. For years, they’ve been able to rest on the laurels of their superior league finish, but now that horrific streak is very much in jeopardy. Gunner fans truly won’t know how to insult Tottenham with any shred of truth if we finish above them in the league this season.
Chelsea fans face a similar quandary. They’ve known for quite some time that their club has entirely given up on the moral high ground. They have only been able to succeed on the back of massive transfer spending, but they’ve rationalized that philosophy as a fair exchange for their success on the pitch. Now that they will certainly finish below Tottenham this season, and with no guarantees of an on-field superiority next season they’re grasping at any way to insult Spurs they can find. Their only recourse is to tout a home draw against us that ended our title dreams.
I get a great deal of pleasure every time I see an opposing Premier League fan begin to spew irrational insults regarding our club. I know it’s a sign that we aren’t the only ones who see the bright future in front of Spurs. Every other fan base in the Premier League sees it as well and it has them shaking with fear.
