Defenders on the forty man roster:  Kellyn Acosta (FC Dallas), Ventura Alvarado (Club America), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Steve Birnbaum (D.C. United), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Edgar Castillo (Monterrey), Timmy Chandler (Eintracht Frankfurt), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders FC), Omar Gonzalez (Pachuca), Eric Lichaj (Nottingham Forest), Matt Miazga (Chelsea FC), Michael Orozco (Club Tijuana), Tim Ream (Fulham), DeAndre Yedlin (Sunderland)

Final Selections: Acosta, Besler, Birnbaum, Brooks, Cameron, Miazga, Evans, Yedlin, and Orozco

Outlook: Here is where the big conundrum comes into play. Klinsmann has a large of numbers of players with various levels of experience and different backgrounds to choose. That is a good thing in one sense because it gives him plenty of options. But it also leads to having a large number of different styles which, as shown in the 2015 Gold Cup, can be a catastrophe.

No matter who Klinsmann selects he is still going to have an issue at the left-back position. Yedlin can play the position but hasn’t really proven himself to be a dependable defender. Evans may be able to slide over but perhaps would be a bit out of position?
