4. Granada should be thankful that they didn’t have to win this week

Although it was a good effort from Granada, they had nothing to show for it as they walked away with a loss. The result against Barcelona made the victory against Sevilla the key victory that saved their place in La Liga. They were at the bottom of the table in September and October but were able to get out of it by December, only to see them fall right back in January. But then they caught a good run of form to make the great escape out of the drop zone. It was like what we saw with Leicester City last season. The escape was capped off with a win over Sevilla. Granada smashed the reigning Europa League champions 4-1 and sealed safety in Spain’s top flight.

Granada now sits 16th in La Liga with 39 points and are three points ahead of Sporting Gijon and Getafe CF. Although the two latter teams have a game in hand, neither can overtake Granada in the standings and even if Granada falls a spot in the standings, they are still safe.

They should be thanking themselves that they got the result against Sevilla because they didn’t have to be faced with the monumental task of beating the Catalans. This is why you don’t procrastinate.
