4. Andres Iniesta was key once again

Andres Iniesta played a captains match in this final as he led the way for FC Barcelona. The Spanish midfielder was instrumental in helping Barcelona get out of tricky situations and giving Sevilla some problems in the little time FC Barcelona had the ball in regular time. There were times when Iniesta was stuck around a two or three Sevilla defenders near the touchline and he was somehow able to get out of trouble. That’s the magic of Andres Iniesta. Year after year he keeps producing and is playing like an ageless wonder.

With Ivan Rakitic subbed off at half time in order for Jeremy Mathieu to come on, Iniesta and Sergio Busquets had to cover a lot more ground on defense. Rafinha also helped out in extra time as well but it was mainly the starting duo for Barcelona. Iniesta and Busquets played like heroes tonight and it took a lot out of them as shown by Busquets cramping up near the end of the game.

Although Iniesta didn’t help out much in terms of dictating offense, he was much more key in other parts of the game. Specifically helping Barcelona clear the ball in tough situations and transition from the defense to offense. He was the link between the backline and the forwards.
