FC Barcelona vs Sevilla : Five things we learned
By Vijay Vemu
1. When FC Barcelona needed him the most, Lionel Messi stepped up
Lionel Messi has had a great last month of football and it ended on a great note. He almost didn’t finish the match, as he went down after clashing heads with Carrico. But he was able to resume and save Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey final.
Down to 10 men and with Luis Suarez leaving the game injured, it was down to Messi to create some magic. That’s exactly what he did. It was Messi who picked out the perfect pass to Jordi Alba. The pass was right on the money and landed right in front of the left back, who made a sprint down the left side, and he put the chance away as the ball rolled into the far post. It was a great goal but an even greater pass.

Messi also helped on the second goal as he assisted Neymar to seal the game in the 122nd minute. Messi got the ball in the penalty box and after a couple of fakes, he shifted left and slotted it to Neymar who made a good run. Goalie Sergio Rico had no chance as Neymar slotted the ball past him to kill off the game. Although Messi didn’t score, he changed the game in a huge way.
