2.Yannick Ferreira Carrasco was the sparkplug that Atletico needed

With Atletico needing a spark on offense, Diego Simeone substituted Belgian winger Yannick Ferreira Carrasco. He replaced Augusto Fernandez, which moved Koke into a more central role with Carrasco replacing him. It was an attacking substitution and it proved to be a key sub.

Carrasco caused havoc on the wing as his speed caused Danilo problems on the wing. He helped Atletico gain confidence in the attacking areas and he was rewarded for his efforts when he scored the equalizer. First off, it was a great cross by Juanfran. He did a good job of getting past his man to get inside the penalty area and he sent in a delicious cross that went right past both Sergio Ramos and Pepe. With Danilo beat, Carrasco was right there to pounce and smash the ball past Keylor Navas.

After a tough season at Monaco, Carrasco was granted a loan to the Vicente Calderon and he provided a spark on the wing Atletico needed. After Raul Garcia left, Atletico needed some help on the wings and they got that this season from youngster Saul and Carrasco. Tonight, it was the Belgian who showed his class despite the losing effort. He was one of the best players on the pitch.
