Real Madrid must strike quickly to beat Manchester United for the services of Paul Pogba

Real Madrid need to get off their hands and move quickly to sign Paul Pogba away from Juventus. They need to act fast if they want to prevent the supremely talented Frenchman from moving to Manchester United instead.

The Red Devils have had their hopes to sign Pogba buoyed after the revelation that Manchester City have removed themselves from the chase. Pogba famously left Old Trafford on a free transfer after then United boss Sir Alex Ferguson refused to meet his wage demands as a 19-year-old.

It’s safe to say that Sir Alex got that one wrong. Pogba was arguably the best player in Serie A last season for Juventus and is a crucial cog of the French national team that many believe are poised to win Euro 2016. It’s not an exaggeration to say that he has more potential than any other midfielder in the world.

It just so happens that Real Madrid find themselves a little unsettled in the middle of the park. Both Toni Kroos and Isco have been rumored to be on their way out of the La Liga club this summer, which would leave a gaping hole in the middle of Los Blancos midfield.

There’s no better player to fill a huge hole in your midfield than Pogba. He’s an incredible talent with a one of a kind combination of pace, skill and fluidity that leaves opponents mesmerized on a weekly basis.

In short, he’s just the kind of player that Real Madrid needs if they’re going to catch arch-rival Barcelona in next year’s title chase. The only missed out on nipping Messi and Co by a single point this season and adding Pogba would be worth quite a bit more than that. His addition would allow Zinedine Zidane to turn his club’s biggest weakness into a strength with one transaction.

The idea that Real Madrid might let Manchester United swoop in and sign Pogba away from Juventus is almost unbelievable. The prodigious French midfielder has previously expressed his preference to play in Spain over a return to English football. With Barcelona facing financial issues this summer, Real Madrid have an opportunity to swoop for Pogba without their biggest domestic competition even being a factor.

It’s really a dream scenario for Real Madrid to be in. That doesn’t mean that Pogba would come cheap, he’d still likely cost the La Liga giants somewhere around 80 million pounds. That’s a lot of money, but it’s the price you have to pay when you want to acquire one of the world’s truly unique football talents.

Real Madrid need to move quickly if they want to bring Paul Pogba to La Liga. If they continue to dally, he might just end up back where his career began with Manchester United. Such a scenario would be a huge missed opportunity for Real Madrid.
