Alvaro Morata will ultimately snub Manchester United
Alvaro Morata will snub Manchester United before signing elsewhere this summer
Manchester United fans dreaming of adding Juventus striker Alvaro Morata to their striking corps next season should crush those hopes before they take root. There’s almost no chance that the Spanish striker ends up playing his home matches at Old Trafford next season.
La Gazzetta reports that Morata is willing to consider a move to United, but only if he’s guaranteed a starting position. The suddenly crowded striker position for Jose Mourinho’s club is going to cost them any chance at the prolific Serie A striker.
Just consider it from Morata’s point of view. If he really wants to be a club’s unquestioned number one striker, why would he choose to head to United? If he makes the move to play under Mourinho, he’ll definitely have to battle Marcus Rashford for a regular place in the starting 11. That’s the best case situation for Morata if he were to make the switch.

The likely reality is that he would also need to battle the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Breel Embolo for playing time. You can bet that Ibra isn’t headed to the Premier League to sit on the bench, and Embolo has a very bright future ahead of him as well.
There’s just too much uncertainty up front at Old Trafford for Morata to risk the move. He’s already proven that he isn’t going to be happy as a substitute no matter how successful the club is. If he were going to be content in that role, he’d still be a super sub at Real Madrid.
Morata has clearly made the decision that he is only interested in moving to a club where he can be a consistent starter. More than that, he wants to find a club that will depend on him above anyone else on the roster to score goals on a regular basis.
Some might call that a selfish or immature attitude on behalf of the Spanish striker, but I actually applaud him for knowing what he wants at this point in his career. His unabashed desire to be the definite number one striker makes it much easier to forecast whether or not he’ll be happy at a particular club. It’s that clear requirement that makes Manchester United an extremely poor fit for the talented striker.

Manchester United may continue to be linked with Morata for several more weeks, but it’s almost impossible to think that he’ll make the move to Old Trafford. Morata will snub Jose Mourinho’s side before the summer is over.
