Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri knows that his club is about more than just Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba is a transcendent talent who brings an amazing amount of talent to the middle of Juventus’ midfield. With that being said, The Old Lady will continue to be just fine if Pogba leaves this summer according to manager Massimiliano Allegri.

Allegri admits that he is powerless to keep Pogba from returning to Manchester United this summer even though everyone at the club wants to retain their brightest star. The good news for Juventus fans is that he also isn’t operating this summer in fear of losing his talisman.

Instead, Allegri understands that while Pogba is a world-class talent, the club isn’t going to be devoid of talent if he moves on. If United are able to launch a successful bid for the French midfielder, it’s going to provide Juventus with a fortune in return. Those funds could be reinvested to re-stock the squad with high-end talent.

Don’t forget that Juventus have already launched a proactive move to protect themselves against losing Pogba as well. The club moved earlier this summer to bring in Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanic from Roma. He certainly isn’t a like-for-like replacement for the physically intimidating Pogba, but he does arguably have more skill on the ball.

More importantly, the move for Pjanic shows the sort of buying power that the club has in the transfer market. Juventus are the preeminent brand in Serie A, and have a reputation for playing very stylish, effective football. The fact that they’re a regular participant in the Champions League knockout stage also makes them very attractive for potential transfer targets.

I actually believe that Allegri’s comments might be designed to spur Manchester United on in their chase for Pogba. Juventus likely want to know just what their star might be worth on the open market. Given Jose Mourinho’s arrival at Old Trafford this summer this might be the ideal time to force the Red Devils to open their transfer wallets.

Losing a player like Paul Pogba is never a reality that any club wants to face. Juventus surely believe their best-case scenario is to hang on to their French superstar. What separates the Old Lay from other clubs, is that they know that losing Pogba isn’t the end of the world. They have more than enough talent without their world-class midfielder to continue their domination of Serie A.
