Manchester United ready to break transfer record for Pogba
Reports are indicating that Manchester United are ready to break the transfer fee record to bring Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford.
Paul Pogba may no longer be the one that got away for Manchester United.
The 23-year-old midfielder left the Red Devils in 2012 on a transfer to Juventus for a mere £800,000 due to a lack of regular playing time with the first team. Since then, Pogba has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world, capturing 4 straight Serie A titles for the club based in Turin, Italy.
Pogba has established himself as one of the most sought after footballers in the world because of his incredible play in the middle of the pitch. A player who can out dribble any defender, create opportunities out of nothing, and finish the most difficult of situations with ease, he would be an asset to any team. Now, according to IBT, Pogba could be on the move back to Old Trafford after a world-record transfer fee. Juventus knows that Pogba has amassed an incredible amount of interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, so they told Europe that in order to sign him they were going to have to break Gareth Bale’s record transfer fee that saw him land in Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur.

Oddly enough, original reports thought that Pogba was most likely to end up playing for the Spanish capital city club because they had both the interest and the financial ability to sign the French star. After it was announced that Pogba wanted to have a contract that would be paying him £200,000/week though, Real Madrid have started to rethink their position. Signing the Serie A star to a contract of this magnitude might would make him the third highest paid player on the squad. This development could upset players like Sergio Ramos, Pepe, and Karim Benzema who are paid less and have been integral in Real Madrid’s success over the past few seasons.
While Real Madrid have reservations about wage added on to the transfer fee, it seems that Jose Mourinho is intent on spending a fortune in his first transfer window as United manager. United have already made an £80 million offer for Pogba, signaling that they are willing to meet the world record transfer fee, and they are also willing to meet his wage demands.

Mourinho really wants to make a marquee signing this summer at Old Trafford, and he believes bringing Pogba back could be exactly what the club needs. For a midfield that has not looked great over the past couple of seasons, the addition of Pogba would be an incredible lift.
While this deal is far from complete, if Mourinho is looking for a signing that would grab headlines, he has sure found it. Pogba is certainly a talent worth seeking, and breaking the transfer fee record with a club he has not coached a single match for is the kind of headline I can only assume Mourinho wants. Hopefully for United fans all the money they are most assured going to spend in this transfer window pays dividends next season, both domestically and in Europe.
