Real Madrid and Manchester United should give up their quest for Paul Pogba in favor of a move for N’Golo Kante

Paul Pogba is a magnificent talent, but Real Madrid and Manchester United are both foolish to consider paying 100 million pounds for his services. Both clubs should immediately shift their transfer attention to Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante instead.

Give Real Madrid credit at realizing that Pogba’s transfer price was just too ridiculous. They’ve already at least entertained the notion of shifting their attention to Kante instead. Manchester United, on the other hand, still seem desperate to name the bigger name in Pogba.

It’s really just a question of simple economics. Pogba is going to cost some club at least three times the money that will be required to pry Kante away from Leicester City. If you think Pogba is three times the player that Kante is, you didn’t want much Premier League football last season.

I’m not saying that Pogba isn’t a stellar talent. I truly believe he has the God-given ability to be one of the best midfielders we’ve ever seen. He’s got the size, skill and athleticism to dominate any opposition. You can’t watch him play without immediately thinking he’s the most talented player on the pitch.

Kante, in many ways, is the opposite of Pogba on the pitch. He tends to do his work in a tidy, unassuming fashion. You appreciate him more the more you’re able to watch him play. He never puts a foot out-of-place, and has an uncanny ability to break up play and quickly transition the ball to attack.

Pogba is going to sell more kits, but Kante might help either Real Madrid or Manchester United win more games next season. If we’re honest with ourselves, Kante had a better year than his French compatriot.

Given that fact, spending almost 70 million pounds more to bring Pogba to your club seems like financial negligence. I’m stunned that we continue to see clubs falling all over themselves to sign Pogba while Kante floats out there for the taking.

Of course, Leicester City don’t want to give up Kante cheaply. The Foxes would like to recoup at least a 30 million pound transfer fee to let him leave. I’d be fine with either United or Los Blancos paying 40 million for Kante if it meant they’d leave Pogba for another club to sign.

The idea of purchasing Paul Pogba will continue to delight the fan bases of Manchester United and Real Madrid until either a transfer occurs or he signs a new deal at Juventus. It’s too bad that fans don’t appreciate N’Golo Kante’s talents enough to enjoy the same feeling of elation when considering his purchase as well.
