8 Tottenham players with the most to prove during ICC
7. Harry Winks
Tottenham’s midfield is already very crowded headed into next season, but Harry Winks has an outside shot at inserting himself into the mix. If he can prove his mettle adding to the team’s offensive attack during the ICC, he may be able to do enough to supplant the likes of Tom Carroll in the midfield pecking order.
Winks’ best chance to make an impression is to show real chops moving forward. He lacks the physicality to be a real enforcer in the double-pivot, but he does have exceptional skill on the ball. In essence, his best bet is to become a better version of Carroll.
He’ll likely receive the opportunity to play in both the defensive and attacking midfield while Spurs are in Australia. He’ll get the chance to play in the same 11 with Carroll and distinguish himself as the better player.
Much like with Ball, Winks is facing an uphill battle to carve out a player in Pochettino’s senior team next season. He is more likely playing to secure a Championship or lower Premier League loan for next season. He’s still a part of Tottenham’s future, the question is when he’ll make a real impact at White Hart Lane.
