2. Son Heung-Min

Regular readers know that I am not optimistic about Son’s ability to really help Tottenham. Even so, this summer he has an opportunity to show that he deserves significant playing time next season.

In all fairness to the affable South Korean, he was played out of position at striker next year. That might have been his correct deployment in the Bundesliga, but he lacks the physicality to play alone up top in the Premier League. His home in England will be as a member of the attacking midfield.

Currently, Tottenham are scouring the planet to find another attacking midfielder who can play all three positions for Pochettino a la Christian Eriksen. If Son can be the player that many believe he has the potential to be, he could save Spurs the expense of bringing in a high-price acquisition to fill that role.

The key for Son will be to show that he can consistently compete against high-level competition. He had some good moments for Tottenham last year, but he could also be downright anonymous against even average competition. He’ll need to light up the score sheet for Spurs during the ICC to convince Pochettino to trust him with serious minutes.
