2. Juan Mata

Frankly, I’m amazed that Juan Mata hasn’t already been sold. Mourinho has already thrown him out of one Premier League club while he was at Chelsea, and I just can’t imagine them forming a successful partnership the second time around.

Perhaps United’s strategy is to keep any talk about a potential rekindling of the conflict quiet to avoid eroding his transfer value. That would be a wise transfer policy, but one that might be too forward thinking for Mourinho and Woodward.

Mata played 38 matches for United last season and was almost the epitome of Premier League mediocrity. He did manage to contribute six goals and five assists, but his woeful Whoscored.com player rating of 6.80 is a better indicator of his struggles.

Again, Jose Mourinho has already sold him once. Are we really to believe that an older, less dynamic version of Juan Mata is going to be a key player for a Mourinho squad? I think not, Mata needs to be purged within the next two weeks.
