3. Romelu Lukaku /// Everton /// 23 years old /// 36 (1) league apps /// 18 goals

I went to type Lukaku’s name into WhoScored to pull his stats and subconsciously typed “Everton” because he was the Ev’s heartbeat and lifeline. And he’s growing tired of pulling the weight for the club and is ready to move on, after requesting to move there on a permanent basis from Chelsea.

And now he might be going back to Chelsea!

Chelsea bought the young striker from Anderlecht and dubbed him the ‘new Drogba’ before loaning him out continually, as they usually do with young players, before he stuck at Everton and requested to move there. He replaced Drogba then when he left, Drogba came back to replace him as the backup striker.

Oh, Chelsea.

At least for Everton they’d stand to make more than double what they paid for him, with the figure of £68million floating about for his services. Lukaku would be fantastic for Chelsea, making it even more of a peculiar decision to force/allow him to leave. Purely silly.

Ironically he’s the type of striker who seems to feast on Arsenal but he wouldn’t land well there. It’s simply not his style to buzz around the box and combine in the middle and final third for intricate passing and patient possession. He’s a direct goal scorer so he’d be wasted some at Arsenal, and the club should pass on that fee for that kind of player.
