Reason #6: Friday night football

There is nothing better than starting your weekend with a football match. One of the cool things about the Sky Bet Championship is that as opposed to the Premier League it plays matches on Friday nights. Newcastle will get to play their first Friday match rather early, starting out their 2016-2017 campaign rather early tomorrow against Fulham.

The reason why Friday night matches are great is simple: it starts the weekend off right. There is something to having a game of footy on a Friday that makes weekends all that more enjoyable. Perhaps it is because for most people it is the end of the work week and the best chance to let off some steam but having games on Friday is the perfect way to get ready for the bars or a night out.

An added bonus: it frees up one’s Saturday. Although there are certainly many footy matches to watch on Saturday if your team plays on Friday it makes it less important to tie one’s weekend up in front of the television. That can be very important when juggling non-football events and the wishes of non-football fans.
