Despite Pogba’s arrival, Manchester United still have serious questions to answer heading into the 2016-17 campaign

Manchester United fans are brimming with confidence after the arrival of manager Jose Mourinho and midfielder Paul Pogba this summer. That doesn’t mean the Red Devils still don’t have their fair share of issues heading into this season though.

The higher-ups at Old Trafford aren’t going to accept another mediocre season. After multiple years of watching the squad trudge along under Louis van Gaal, patience is wearing thin. If Mourinho doesn’t get his side off to a good start, things could get quite testy for the Premier League giants.

Fortunately, Mourinho and Pogba aren’t the only summer arrivals at the club. Both Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan should offer significant boosts to a squad that was, frankly, short on talent last year. Both players should quickly become regulars in Mourinho’s starting 11.

Even with the additions, Mourinho is still going to need to garner significantly more production from the members of last year’s squad who are still around. His ability to increase their production may ultimately determine whether or not he succeeds at United.
