One has to hand it to Manchester United: they are certainly never quiet during a transfer window.

After another flat campaign in the Premier League, United spent the better part of the offseason ensuring that if nothing else that 2016-2017 will be anything but boring. United, after naming Jose Mourinho manager, spent the Gross Domestic Product of a small country on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and some guy named Paul Pogba.

(Author’s note: when Jose Mourinho is a bit of a footnote in an offseason transaction piece that normally means that your club has been busy. Mourinho plays only second fiddle to players who sign for 105 million Euros).

The question is now: have they done enough? Is this club so very different from the David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal sides that they can contend for a Premier League title? Manchester United will hope so, but may fear that more needs to be done to turn this team around.

So without further adieu let’s get to the three hopes and one fear of Manchester United!

Next: That Wayne Rooney can find a position and excel at it.
