Bethlehem Steel’s Derrick Jones (Philadelphia Union)

Recently inked to a first team Homegrown contract, Derrick Jones has been great all season for their USL affiliate Bethlehem Steel. He’s lanky, but very athletic with great skill on the ball. He has four goals, and three assists in his 19 games so far with the Steel, earning him the opportunity to sign with the first team.

With the Union moving on from Sebastien Le Toux, Jones may have some opportunities in the near future to make an impact in the Philly midfield. Only a teenager, his slight frame will continue to fill out, making for a dangerous attacking player in the middle of the park for years to come in the City of Brotherly Love.

NYRB II’s Brandon Allen (New York Red Bulls)

The younger brother of NYCFC’s RJ Allen, Brandon has made quite the name for himself so far in his young professional career. After leaving Georgetown as the all time leading scorer, Allen joined the Red Bulls on a Homegrown contract. His first season has been superb in the scoring department, with nine goals so far in the USL, seventh in the league.

He’s great in the box, and is a hardworking example to the young side. His leadership up top has helped push NYRB2 to the second spot in the competitive Eastern Conference, and to the third highest scoring team in the entire USL.
