Tottenham’s season is sure to be full of surprises

If you think Tottenham’s 2016-17 season is going to go precisely according to plan then you need to think again. That just doesn’t happen in the Premier League. Spurs will need to cope with a number of challenges this year to truly achieve glory.

The real challenge is trying to predict what things won’t go according to plan. Some players will crack under the pressure of Premier League football, while some stars will flourish under the bright lights. Manager Mauricio Pochettino would pay good money to know in advance which star will go in which direction.

Now this article isn’t about making easy predictions. This is a space where only bold assertions can live. Predicting Dele Alli as an integral part of the Tottenham midfield doesn’t qualify as a bold prediction. If I predicted that Tom Carroll would win the Ballon d’Or, THAT would qualify as a bold prediction. Spoiler alert, you shouldn’t be looking out for that later in this piece.
