2. Erik Lamela will lead Spurs in scoring

I’ve made no secret of my belief that Erik Lamela is poised for a major breakout season. I think he’ll be so good that he, and not Harry Kane, will actually lead the club in scoring.

Spurs fans who watched Lamela during the club’s preseason shouldn’t see this prediction as much of a shock. He’s certainly been the club’s best midfielder leading up to the opener. It seems that his third season at Tottenham has allowed Lamela to really grow comfortable with life in the Premier League.

This is another prediction where Janssen’s arrival really factors into. He will rob Kane of playing time, which will cut into Kane’s goal scoring total. The combination of Kane’s decrease, and Lamela’s increase should put the Argentine attacker on top.

The real shocking prediction here is that Lamela might actually shut his Tottenham critics up this season. 30 million pounds is going to seem like a bargain when the year is through.
