4. Ryan Mason will change positions

In truth, Mason likely won’t stay with the club all season long. There’s a slight chance he’ll be sold this summer, and a significant chance he’ll be jettisoned in the winter window. If he stays at Spurs, he’ll need to adapt quickly if he wants significant playing time.

The easy transition for Mason would be to push him forward into a reserve role in the attacking midfield. Spurs certainly have a need for reinforcements there. Mason played as a number ten frequently in his Academy days, which could allow him an easy transition.

There may be a different spot where Mason could ultimately end up though. Imagine for a moment him deployed as a full back. He may not have the outstanding pace that Pochettino prefers in his wide defenders, but he is pretty skillful with the ball. Is he really less athletic than Kieran Trippier?

If Mason wants to stay at White Hart Lane, he’s going to need to make a big change in his game. There’s no better adjustment for him to make than to switch positions.
