Tottenham’s opening match at Everton was a very educational experience for Spurs

Tottenham’s opener at Everton was a very Spurs-like experience. Tottenham looked dreadful in the opening half before completely dominating the second stanza. Manager Mauricio Pochettino learned quite a bit about his squad.

All in all, earning a point at Goodison Park isn’t a bad result. It would have been nice for Tottenham to gain all three, but early in the match it seemed likely they’d return to White Hart Lane with zero points. Splitting the points was a fair result for both sides.

Perhaps more important than the actual result, was the great learning experience the match was for Spurs. The club learned a ton about their current squad. There were significant positives and negatives to take away. Pessimistic Tottenham fans will see signs of future relegation, while happy clappers will start to dream of winning the League.

As usual, the truth is somewhere in between. Spurs showed enough to be a factor in the title race, but they have a lot of work to do. Read on to learn five Spurs lessons from the Everton match.
