Tottenham can’t afford to drop points against Crystal Palace
Tottenham head into their home opener against Crystal Palace in desperate need of three points. Spurs don’t want to give their Premier League rivals an opportunity to steal an early advantage over them in the Premier League table.
In all fairness, gaining one point at Everton wasn’t a bad initial result for Mauricio Pochettino’s squad. The Toffees were flying high for Ronald Koeman’s first match in charge and Tottenham easily could have folded under the pressure at Goodison Park. Instead, they were able to grind out an important point.
One point won’t be good enough when Alan Pardew’s side comes to White Hart Lane. Tottenham must soundly defeat the goal-starved Eagles to get their season off on the right front. Unfortunately for Pochettino, he won’t have anywhere near his full squad to choose from.
Mousa Dembele, of course, will miss the match due to suspension. The Belgian midfielder wasn’t available for the Everton match either. The new absence for Pochettino to deal with is that of keeper Hugo Lloris. The Tottenham captain will miss the home opener due to a hamstring injury suffered at Everton.
The absence of that duo will make the match just a little bit more challenging for Spurs. Read on to discover five keys for Tottenham to dispatch the Eagles this weekend at White Hart Lane.
