West Ham United: Three hopes, one fear
By Sean Maslin
Hope #2: That management can find a home for Diafra Sakho. Fast.
There is nothing worse than a disgruntled striker. After voicing his displeasure with the West Ham’s efforts to find a new striker and refusing to participate in preseason practices and exhibitions it seems as if Diafra Sakho has written his own ticket out of East London. Despite a reported deal with West Bromwich Albion having fallen through West Ham management would be wise to move Diafra Sakho as soon as possible.
One can certainly understand Sakho’s position. Look, no one likes to hear that your employer is bringing in more people into the company that you work with in the same field as you. But there are ways and methods to voicing your displeasure. Failing to show up to work is not the solution.
Although the injury Andre Ayew should make management pause when determining Sakho’s fate in the end the Senegalese attacker must be moved on. It is what is best for the manager, the team, and the player themselves. West Ham might need to eat a bit of his contract but in the end it is worth it.
Next: Hope #3: That Reece Oxford can continue to get minutes.
