Peter Hartley Goal – 35th minute 2-1

Bristol Rovers may be a League One side but they did not play like it on the day. They signified their intent to give Chelsea FC a game with a goal from a set-piece situation just four minutes after Moses’s goal.

Chelsea’s defense had a lapse in concentration (what else is new?), and fouled Bristol in a dangerous area. Chris Lines sent in a looping cross from the ensuing free kick and it was headed past Asmir Begovic at his far post by Peter Hartley. Three matches for Chelsea FC this season and still no clean sheets, even against a League One side.

If that was not enough of a signal to the Chelsea board to spend big money on a defender then nothing else is. It was game on at Stamford Bridge.
