Joel Matip was the first signing of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool tenure having seen the big defender agree terms on a move on a summer free transfer from Schalke 04.

Having only had limited preseason time, Matip is expected to make his Premier League debut in the Reds third match of the season.

He is expected to be the other half in the main defensive pairing for the Reds and he will be looking to bed in and impress from the beginning.
