2. France
France provides the second most players to England’s top flight. The French national team are currently ranked seventh by FIFA and came close to winning Euro 2016. They therefore have an abundance of talent coming out of the country.
Some of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s most successful signings have come from his homeland. This includes four members of Arsenal’s 2003-2004 Invincibles squad; Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Sylvain Wiltord and Patrick Vieira.
This season 30 French players are registered with Premier League clubs. Two of this summer’s biggest transfer deals involved Frenchmen. Manchester United spent £89 million to resign former player Paul Pogba. Chelsea bought in highly coveted Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante at a cost of £29.2 million.
Other notable French players include Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris, West Ham’s Euro 2016 hero Dimitri Payet, Manchester United youngster Anthony Martial and Arsenal trio Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin.
