The Carlo Ancelotti era has begun at Bayern. Can he get them back to the top of the Champions League?

Drop-off? What drop-off? While many clubs might expect a bit of a drop-off when they lose one of the best managers in the world Bayern Munich is not like many clubs. Despite parting ways with Pep Guardiola Munich went out and made yet another big-time splash in the coaching ranks, nabbing Carlo Ancelotti from Real Madrid.

The Ancelotti move sent a very clear message throughout the Bundesliga: this is not a rebuilding season for Bayern Munich. Despite losing Mario Gotze in the offseason and staying relatively quiet Bayern enter this 2016-2017 campaign as the clear front-runner to win their fifth consecutive Bundesliga season and reclaim the Champions League title.

If that is the expectation for Munich supporters then the hope is that Ancelotti is the right man for the job. But the fear is that this might be one season too soon for Die Bayern and that he might need some time to mold this club in his image.

So with that being said let’s take a deeper look into the three hopes and one fear of Bayern Munich.
