Top World Cup Winners All-Time: Number Five – Brazil, 2002

We have entered the domain of the top five international teams ever known to man. Naturally, it all starts with Brazil in their most recent World Cup triumph.

This would be the first time that the World Cup was ever held in Asia, splitting time between Japan and South Korea.

Coming out of the group stages, it was remarkably clear who the best two teams were and who would likely face off in the finals – the two best and most consistent international football hotbeds, Germany and Brazil. Germany exited the group with 11 goals scored and only one surrendered while Brazil came out with 11 goals scored and three surrendered.

The knockout stages showed more of a clear picture of the general theme of play, yet again. Germany, ever organized and defensive, secured three straight 1-0 wins on their way to the final while Brazil had to go through Belgium, England, and Turkey, scoring five goals in the three matches.

In the end, Brazil triumphed with two goals, shutting out the practical German side.
