Top World Cup Winners All-Time: Number Two – Spain, 2010

Everything that was just said about Germany’s 2014 squad can also be said here for Spain’s World Cup winning squad the tournament before. After so many years of not living up to expectations, Spain put it all together to win with a comprehensive team effort in 2010.

This would probably also be the last time where the Spanish National side had recognizable strikers like David Villa and Fernando Torres.

However, this game would not be won on the backs of strikers. Spain won a very German-styled World Cup, taking 1-0 wins throughout the knockout stages. They out-Germany’d Germany in the semi-finals and took the Dutch into extra time before winning – you guessed it – 1-0.

Spain only scored eight goals the entire competition, averaging less than two goals per match. Their brilliant composition and spotless passing highlighted a complete team performance.
