AC Milan: Three hopes, one fear
By Sean Maslin
The big fear: That the rebuilding effort will take another year.
Everyone seems to be excited about AC Milan going through a rebuilding phase. It is a chance for the club to play with low expectations, to have some fun watching younger players grow, and to hopefully see some progress at the end.

It can be a lot of fun mostly because one knows that anything that anything positive that comes out of this situation will be seen as a plus. Chances are if the club can finish in the top five and either win or make a deep run in the Coppa Italia then it may be seen as a success.
But what if the rebuilding process takes another year? What if the ownership change takes longer than expected and the new owners take longer to adjust? This is certainly a possibility. There are no givens for how long this process might take. Berlusconi seems certainly willing to move on. But a slight delay might hold things up even further.
Milan supporters might be okay with taking one season to rebuild. But what if it lasts two seasons? Or three? This side has fallen very hard since their last title in 2010-2011 and Milan supporters are very demanding about their club. Whether this side can immediately turn things around in one season is still very much up for debate.
