Reason number 2-Spurs have the best centre backs

I mentioned earlier that Tottenham have the best fullback pairing in England. Well, they also have the best centre back pairing in the Premier League. Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen form a sensational partnership in front of keeper Hugo Lloris.

The Belgian duo are off to a particularly strong start to the current campaign. Both men have enjoyed good fitness and form. As long as their string of good health continues, Tottenham’s defense will remain very formidable.

By the product of simple logic, if Spurs have the best fullback paring and the best centre back pairing in the league, it’s pretty clear they have the best back four in total. That’s surely the case for this edition of Pochettino’s squad.

Throw in the presence of Lloris in goal and it almost seems like an embarrassment of riches for the club. Rest assured, Pochettino is very thankful for his excellent defense and doesn’t take it for granted in the slightest.
