Toby Alderweireld – £75 million

There might not be a player in the Tottenham squad that Spurs could afford to lose any less than Alderweireld. His poise and steady play at the heart of the Tottenham defense has made the club’s back four the best in all of England.

His arrival at White Hart Lane has quite literally raised the play of every other defender at the club. That’s why any club wanting to purchase Alderweireld would be forced to offer up a world-record transfer fee. Count on him staying with Spurs for the foreseeable future.

Jan Vertonghen – £35 million

The other half of the Belgian duo is valuable to the club, but would come much cheaper than his counterpart. Vertonghen deserves credit for his solid play, but he isn’t the dynamic presence that Alderweireld is along the back line.

The reality is that Tottenham have two young options at centre back who could grow into a starting position of Vertonghen left. Both Cameron Carter-Vickers and Kevin Wimmer have the talent to replace him. Vertonghen could be purchased if another club came in with a serious offer.
