Juan Mata – £30 million

I can’t help but chuckle at how much things have changed for Juan Mata in such a small amount of time. Before the season everyone thought he’d be sold to the first bidder. Now, he’s firmly entrenched in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI.

He’s been good to start the season, but he isn’t going to be a long-term answer for United. That’s why they’d be willing to let him walk for a reasonable transfer fee. They won’t shop him this winter, but a summer transfer isn’t out of the question.

Jesse Lingard – £25 million

Lingard is another player who many believed might struggle to find a place under Mourinho. Instead, he’s parlayed his three Premier League starts into a full England call-up.

Even so, his place in the United starting XI is tenuous at best. I suspect this will be his last season at Old Trafford. He’s going to want regular first team football and Mourinho is going to want a star in his position. If he’s willing to remain a bit player, United will be glad to keep him. If he wants more, he’ll need to find it elsewhere.
