Michael Carrick – £15 million

Wayne Rooney is the most high-profile old head at Old Trafford, but Michael Carrick deserves plaudits for his years of service as well. Unfortunately for the aging midfielder, he’s even further past his prime than Rooney.

It’s a bit of a surprise that he’s still an active member of the squad. He still has a great deal of skill on the ball, but his lack of athleticism is startling. He just doesn’t have the legs to compete against even average competition.

The higher-ups at United are hoping that Carrick will play this year out and ride off into the sunset. They’ll only sell Carrick if he pushes for a move.

Morgan Schneiderlin – £16 million

The demise of the French international midfielders has been nothing short of shocking. He arrived at Old Trafford coming off a strong couple of years at Southampton, but his impact for United has been minimal at best.

I thought Pogba’s arrival might serve to jumpstart his career, but it’s done nothing to improve Schneiderlin’s form. The club would be happy to get rid of him. Look for him to be linked with a number of escape routes in January.
