Tottenham need a result at Bayer Leverkusen

Tottenham travel to Germany on Tuesday to take on Bayer Leverkusen in an intriguing Champions League tie. It isn’t a must-win match for Spurs, but they’d do very well to get a positive result of some sort. Even a point would be hugely beneficial to their chances of advancing out of the Group Stage.

Unfortunately, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad will make the trip without arguably their most important player. Talented central defender Toby Alderweireld will miss the match after injuring his leg at West Brom on the weekend. The full extent of his injury is not yet known, but he’ll certainly miss the trip to Germany to recuperate.

Otherwise, Spurs should have their full complement of players available. It will be up to Pochettino to try to find the right formation to frustrate their Bundesliga opponents. I expect the Argentine boss to revert back to his preferred 4-2-3-1 to solidify the defense in Alderweireld’s absence.

Tuesday will be a stern test for Tottenham no matter who Pochettino chooses for his starting XI, but expect Spurs to field a strong side. Read on discover the 11 men who will likely make up Tottenham’s starting XI at Bayer Leverkusen.
