Tottenham are just one point behind the Premier League leaders

Tottenham fans can take comfort in the fact that Spurs are just one point short of the top of the Premier League table. Unfortunately, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad find themselves in fifth place. It’s quite crowded at the top of the table these days.

Predictably, the passionate Tottenham fan base is rather conflicted about how Spurs have played on the young season. On one hand, being one point short of first is a pretty solid place to be. On the other hand, it doesn’t feel like Spurs have really taken advantage of the opportunities in front of them.

I tend to subscribe more to the latter philosophy. It just doesn’t feel as if the squad has clicked yet. Other than the scintillating performance against Manchester City, I can’t really recall a standout performance on the season. Playing one excellent match out of eight isn’t worth of Premier League title contention.

The good news is that there are plenty of chances left for Tottenham to climb up the table. That’s only going to be possible if they understand why they haven’t hit their stride as of yet. Fortunately, I’m here to articulate five reasons why Tottenham find themselves in fifth place.
