Wing Backs

One place where you’re unlikely to see an Academy player is at either fullback position. Tottenham are fortunate to have two quality backups who will be anxious to earn their manager’s trust against Liverpool.

At right back, Kieran Trippier will get a chance to make his case for additional playing time. He hasn’t seen the pitch much this season due to Kyle Walker’s quality, but he’s certainly capable of being a Premier League starter.

Trippier could be a key figure if Spurs can earn a fair amount of possession on the evening. His ability to put dangerous crosses into the box could be the club’s most direct path to goal.

At left back, Ben Davies will get the start. He’s gotten significantly more playing time than Trippier due to Danny Rose’s periodic injury status. The Welshman is certainly capable of playing his part in an EFL Cup tie.
