The Attacking Midfield

If Tottenham are going to secure an unlikely victory in this match, it will be because of their attacking midfield trio. Pochettino has enough options here to select three talented players capable of hurting Liverpool.

In a bit of a surprise move, I believe you’ll see Christian Eriksen get the start as the number ten. He needs to get some positive momentum going, and a match against what should be a weaker than normal Liverpool side could give him the perfect opportunity.

Fortunately for the Danish attacker, Pochettino isn’t going to leave him out there with no weapons to play with. I fully expect Moussa Sissoko to also have a place in the starting XI. Ironically, his likely three match ban for his elbow against Harry Arter almost forces Pochettino to play him on Tuesday. He’ll get his rest during his suspension.

The third spot in the attacking trio should go to young Josh Onomah. Many Spurs fans want to see Marcus Edwards get his chance, but he’s much more likely to make a cameo off the bench. Onomah is far more prepared for the physicality of this match, and should be chomping at the bit to get a meaningful run with the first team.
