Ben Davies-6
The Welshman has done a decent job filling in for Danny Rose this season, but he looked more like an Academy player than a senior squad member yesterday. He really failed to solidify Tottenham’s young back four.
As usual when I criticize Davies, it’s because he doesn’t make enough positive things happen on the pitch. His lack of dynamic play just leaves me wanting more. He wasn’t at fault for the loss, but he had a big hand in failing to secure a Spurs victory.
Kieran Trippier-7
Trippier was by far the better of the two wing backs on the evening. He stood up to the pacy Liverpool attack and managed to make his way forward to help out his attacking teammates.
The crossing specialist isn’t likely to knock Kyle Walker out of his starting spot anytime soon, but he does offer Pochettino something different. In games where Spurs are likely to enjoy tons of possession, he provides an interesting alternative to Walker. Games like yesterday, show that he’s an above average Premier League backup.
